Technical Components
Hello, welcome to Web Design. In today's session we went over what we went over in the first session, adding some more elements such as the charset meta tag and the lang tag in the html to instruct the browser what language the page is set in.
Lorem Ipsum?
Mr. Speights prefers to use Lorem Ipsum text for the text he intends to edit, but I - being a contrarian and an anti- advocate of L.I. - would prefer to type this myself. This is why:
- It personally feels slightly lazy; instead of typing something out or finding something to sub in, you're just using nonsense Latin?
- On the other hand, personalized typing makes this page feel more like my own, instead of me just copying the teacher for the sake of participation.
Design Components
We're also looking into how simple HTML structure can impact a page's look, from a simple header-and-text setup to a more streamlined, visually pleasing arrangement with multiple headers and paragraphs. This makes a site look more developed and thought-out, instead of just a block of unfiltered text.
Definition Lists!
- This is a definition list; dt is the term you want to define...
- ... and dd is the definition of the term above!
